Toll Bar & Bentley Floods

May I take this opportunity to thank the British Red Cross, The Salvation Army, the residents of Bentley and Toll Bar, Carers and helpers and the Emergency Services that have helped throughout this tragic time.

I was hired by the British Red Cross to document the happenings from the Floods. My first assignment was to visit the Rest Center in Adwick Leisure Center where the people of Toll Bar and Bentley were homed due to the flooding, my first mention must be how I was taken back by the tremendous community spirit that the residents were showing, I have never met such a strong, welcoming and friendly gathering of people. Despite the devastating disaster that these people are going through they showed spirit second to none. I spent Friday night taking photographs and talking to the residents and helpers, I would especially like to mention a group of ladies nicknamed "The Golden Girls" by the staff and helpers at Adwick leisure center who showed me that despite everything that has happened to them they still know how to keep moral and good sprits flying high. As promised to the residents the photographs form my visit can be viewed by clicking here:

On Sunday I traveled back to the rest center to donate some things and went to Bentley and Toll bar to document the effects of the floods as a Red Cross Photographer. I do not need to write much explanation about these pictures as you can see from the photographs themselves how the residents were effected. I was escorted down Toll Bar high street by boat pulled along by two residents who were working alongside the emergency services working on the clear up of their streets. I would like to thank these two gentlemen for all their help and I hope my photographs do their work justice once there job is done, I am sorry but you never gave me your names, Thank You.
